I would like to nominate Peter Bulkowski to FOT.
Peter has been in racing for many years, having won 3 E Production
championships in Canada by the time he was selected by Jaguar/Rover/Triumph
in 1979 to run a TR8 in IMSA,Trans-Am and endurance series. His car is
basically a Canadian Group 44 TR8, having been granted access in 1979
through JRT to the Tullius Group 44 shop, the body, frame, suspension and
wheels are patterned after the Group 44 TR8. He raced throughout Canada and
US from 1980 to 1984 and had a number of top 5 finishes.
In 1984 Peter sold the car and got out of racing, however in 2000 a friend
found his car which had been sitting for a number of years. Peter gave in to
"the force" and bought the car back and completely rebuilt the car over the
next three years. He has since raced the car at VARAC Group 70 events and at
the Toronto Indy. This year at Mosport he had an engine let go at speed,
damaging the right side of the car as it hit the Armco backwards. Luckily
Peter was unhurt and now has the car almost fully repaired. He is determined
to have it ready for the season next year and plans to race at Watkins Glen,
hopefully with/against the Group 44 TR8. It will be quite the reunion.
