I stand corrected. Sorry about that. I broke a cardinal rule of a
tech inspector - consult the GCR not your memory. Have any Spitfire guys
petitioned the Club Racing Board for a 5 speed? Citing the TR6 as a
precedent is a BIG foot in the door. It does away with that "philosophy
of class" stonewalling.

Production GCR authorized modifications D.4.a.1 still reads
4 speed + OD = 4 speed unless the cars spec line allows it....Other
categories may be different...
Not that I wouldn't mind trying a 5spd....but I don't have an
exemption on my spec line like the EP class triumphs do.....
