The Judson *ELECTRONIC* magneto is not a true magneto. It's not connected
to a source of motive power, and hence does not generate it's own
electricity.

Instead, it's a transistorized electronic ignition incorporated in the same
housing as a (special) ignition coil. Still works on the Kettering
principle, just with a transistor performing the current interruption
function instead of points. It's also triggered by the original points.

And connecting it backwards (wrong polarity) will most likely instantly
toast the main output transistor. Back in those days, they didn't believe
in reverse polarity protection.

Some cars did use true magnetos, similar in operation to aircraft mags. Was
even a common performance mod back in the 40's. But the Judson is
different.
