I thought the R-3350 was the most
powerful piston-engine for aircraft ever built. In turbo-super
guise and 55 liters, it produced around 2,800 hp.
Well I dunno if it's THE largest but then there's the 4-row 4360 P&W.
A quick ggogle search shows-
Engine displacement was 4,360 in3 (71.4 _L_
(http://www.answers.com/topic/litre) ), hence the model designation. Initial
models developed 3,000 _hp_
(http://www.answers.com/topic/horsepower) (2240 kW), but the final models
delivered 4,300 hp (3200 kW).
