Without a doubt the highlight of the weekend for me was watching Don Brick
(celebrating his 75th birthday this month) co-driving with Bob Wismer in the
enduro and seeing up close and personal his determination in not giving ANYONE
an easy pass. He was giving all those VSCDA small bore guys fits. I sure hope I
am still driving with that kind of spunk at 75...
In the 'I sure wish that didn't happen' department Tony Drews' Red Rocket
actually developed a real plume of fire coming out the tail end. The situation
was very well handled by the Grattan Emergency Crew and the fire was
extinguished about as fast as everyone's suspictions that this was another
attempt by Team Drews to propel one of their cars to the front of the pack.
Careful examination showed no nozzle to direct some thrust rearward... Tony's
car faired much better than it could have, and hopefully the overheated rear
axle can get rebuilt and he should be good as new.
More later, still driving home.
