At least I got him to change the oil, and to put some good oil in the engine.
Long shot, but it might loosen up the rings. He had been using the cheapest
slop oil available since the engine was burning so much. He was also never
changing the oil and oil filter.
He just now found a source for the crankcase breather filter. If the media
is in better shape, maybe the oil will be more restricted from reaching the
carburetors.
