The Annual Australian All Triumph was run and won on 26 June at Wakefield Park
NSW . A great field of 16 Cars faced the starting lights with almost all
models being represented. Only one car did not make the start line , the GT6
of Roger Lange who blow a diff on the start line of the preliminary race . The
field consisted of 5 Dolomite Sprints ; 3 TR8; 2 GT6 ; 2 TR6 ; 2 TR3A, TR4 ,
TR7-16v . From the early morning practice times it was obvious the the two
South Australian GT6s were the cars to beat and we all wondered if the TR8 of
Graeme Rutledge would be able to challange them . However it was not to be
Trevor Lindsay in the 2.5 GT6 lead from start to finish and was never
challenged , turning in a fastest lap of 1:07 which is super fast and
equivalent to V8 Super car times .
Graeme Rutledge finished second in the 5.0 TR8 with Jeff Wards TR8 third.
There were dices going on right through the field with some door handle to
door handle driving but no panel damage . Only two cars DNF. The first Group S
car home was the TR6 of Geoff Byrne in eighth place .
Trevor Lyndsay went on to dominate the rest of the meeting taking first place
in the division one final beating the quick Austin Healeys , MGs and Marcos
So another page has turned on Triumph racing in Aus with the GT6 yet again
proving to be the most sucessful of the marque, and the TR8 guys going away
with promises to build even bigger motors for next year !!
