Wow!!  Thanks Jack for going to the trouble to concisely formulate the 
questions and going to your friends to get answers.  Great information from 
the people who do it for a living and have to be concerned about warranty 
costs of their products.  And thanks also to your friends for taking the 
time to give extended answers.  Once again, you've provided a real service 
to the list.
