OK, I don't know what the heck I was thinking, but quite a few of you have
asked for a copy of the Mid- Ohio School tape (far more than I had
anticipated) and now it will become a higher expense that I was originally
counting on. So, if you still want a copy I will ask you to send a couple of
dollars (it should be no more than $3.00 to $4.00 and almost certainly less
than that depending on mailing cost) to help me cover the costs.
Anyway, to be a bit more specific about the tape that I will send, it is a
copy (from one VHS machine to another) of a tape called IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT -
A Lap of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and is about 30 minutes long. It includes
(according to the back cover) Lap at Speed, Corner-by-Corner Analysis, Racing
Lines, Braking Points and Apexes. It is very, very detailed as to each turn
and exactly how to get through it in the quickest possible time. There are a
couple of hot laps at the end of the tape. The tape is shot from inside an
Acura NSX and is narrated and driven by SCCA Trans-Am and CART driver Brian
Till.
Now, for the negative part, being a copy of a tape, the quality won't be as
good as a "factory new" tape, but it is very good and just a tiny bit more
grainy than the original. I'll make the copies on brand new VHS tapes so the
copy is as good as I can get. And, since I need to make so many copies, it
will probably take a few weeks to get this all done and out to all of you.
But, I will do so, so don't worry.
Don't send me any money now, I'll send another email when I know the exact
cost and you can just mail a check to me at the return address on the tape
when you get your tape.
I'm not doing this to make money - I'm doing it because I want to try to help
or to entertain you guys who have entertained me for the last few years
through the FOT. Joe Alexander brought me into the FOT when it looked as
though I was going to be able to do a bit of racing in my TR3, but health and
financial concerns have pretty much negated that dream. But, I still can do
it vicariously through you guys in a sort of "Walter Mitty" way and I am
thankful that you still allow me to be a part of the FOT.
If anyone else is interested in one of these copies, please let me know
off-list and I will certainly add you to the list and get them out as soon as
I can.
