OK, I guess I'll add one of my "losing a wheel" stories, too. I was corner
working at the very first Steamboat Vintage Race. I was watching "upstream"
when a very pretty GT-40 came down the hill, and got passed by the left
rear wheel. The wheel proceeded to go off course driver's left, hit a bump
and go sailing clear *over* our corner station (after we had vacated rather
quickly). The driver very calmly slowed the car and came to a stop without
any drama or excitement at all. It seems that "someone" forgot to tighten
the center locks on the knock-off wheels after changing the tires...
