Most of (if not all) the people that go through the SCCA double school that the
Arizona Region puts on have experience running with one of the three other
local groups here in the Phoenix area. ASRA (Arizona Sports Racing
Association), NASA (National Auto Sport Association) and PAS (ProAuto Sports).
All three of those groups have beginner and advanced open track sessions and
they put on novice drivers schools.

ASRA and NASA here in Arizona merged last month since ASRA focused mainly on
Street Sessions and NASA mostly on Race groups it may be a good marriage to
increase car counts at their events to keep costs down. PAS is run by the guy
that used to run NASA out here until it was taken away from him.

I heard talk this weekend that Arizona Region SCCA is looking at starting to
put on HPCCC. Probably due to being faced with the competition from ASRA/NASA
and PAS. The HPCCC would be the type of event where a "common" school line is
taight for all corners like that at ASRA/NASA and PAS.

There are lots of drivers that run ASRA/NASA and PAS race groups that don't run
with SCCA and they got lots of those members from having graduated up to a race
car from having started in those groups street car sessions.

In fact all the Spec-944 drivers at the SCCA school this weekend have been
running in either ASRA or NASA's race group events and the only reason they
came out to SCCA is that the guy that started the Spec-944 group out here
convinced the region to have a Spec-944 class. The region did and the drivers
came. Now they can pick from three different groups to run their cars.
