Actually, the way the bill is written, the rolling exemption is for
"collector cars" which are defined in part as cars that are more than 35 years
old.
Which means that it will become relevant in 2011, since cars built before 1975
are already exempted from all smog tests. So, I guess what I would like is a
bill that defines collector cars as those which are more than 30 years old and
carry collector car insurance or state collector car tags. ( in other words, I
share the state's concern with exempting cars that are still being used as
daily drivers, but think that older cars that are only used for hobby purposes
should be exempted.)
Is that too complicated?
