I couldn't identify them, but it's a common (and I think, misguided)
approach to making a TR3 handle. You can have leaf springs made many
places--there's two here in Portland. The book titled "Vintage racing
British Cars" or something like that recommends just such a modification and
de-arcing the springs to lower the car. Might have been something older, but
not necessarily.
I think you're a lot better off with a well-controlled soft spring:
Reworked shocks, parhard bar and radius rods.

Amici:
A local Triumph Club member removed the rear springs from his TR3 and
replaced them with stock springs. The springs he removed had only three
leaves per side instead of the five or so on a stock spring, yet the spring
assembly is about an inch high. This is because the leaves are much thicker
than the stock ones. The leaves extended for almost the entire length of the
spring assembly, as opposed to the stock assembly of leaves decreasing
length as they near the bottom. The stock springs softened the ride.
Can anyone identify the removed springs? I can forward photos if anyone
wishes.
