Thanks to Steve Smith, Mordy Dunst, Paul Smock and all the other FOTers who
made my visit to Buttonwillow on Sunday a pleasurable one. It's a lot of fun
to meet people you have known only through the Internet for years, see their
cars and talk about how different (and similar) racing can be around the
country. Also congratulations to John Wilkins. CVAR is racing this weekend and
I am ready!
Californians have a slightly different approach to freeway driving than I
am used to. Going back to Santa An on Sunday I was southbound on I-5 just
north of Grapevine. Long line of cars all cruising at the same speed. I
glanced at the speedo and we were doing almost 100! You do that in Texas and
they will bust you as a group! Two hours and 45 minutes from Santa Ana to
Buttonwillow including a stop for breakfast. Three and a half hours going back
with no stops. Where the hell did all that traffic come from? On a Sunday!
