Every top team I've ever known has had an extensive check list. We also
had a check list for loading the van and trucks. Everone who loaded
something had to initial by the item. Wierd things happened to the guy that
signed and didn't load the part. I had a separate list for the cars after
the practice sessions that differed from the preparation list used in the
shop.
One item I've not mentioned is the gearbox after a crash. If you crash
pretty hard, replace the gears in the gearbox that were in use at the time
of the crash. Example:If in third then replace third gear, mainshaft gear
and counter gear. Got caught on this a couple of times with a broken box
the next race and wiped out the whole set.
