Other gearboxes to the TR8 rover engine

Watch speed channel on the weekend and they showed a hotrod
with a Rover V8 and said it was mated to a Camaro gearbox.

Anyone know the feasibility of other non-Triumph gearboxes
that might mate to the Rover (nee Buick) engine?
