I'll second as long as he gives his caps lock a break. Amazing how
irritating that is.

Subject: Nomination
I would like to nominate this gentleman to Amici. He is a recent
customer of some of my e-bay parts and I soon discovered he was a
vintage racer. If anyone is in the New Jersey area, perhaps you could
contact him. I would appreciate it if someone could show him the ropes
regarding AMICI, as I truly have my hands full here. If you contact
Jerry, please cc me so that I know he is in good hands.
I asked him to give me some of his background for me to forward to you
all. Please see it attached below.

JUSTIN,
I JUST COMPLETED THE SKIP BARBER SCHOOL AT LIME ROCK PARK THIS PAST
APRIL AND I NOW HAVE MY COMPETITION LICENSE, BUT HAVE BEEN GOING TO
VINTAGE EVENTS SINCE THE MID-EIGHTIES. I HAVE A NUMBER OF FRIENDS THAT
COMPETE IN THE LOCAL EVENTS AND HAVE HELPED THEM ON OCCASION AT THE TRACK.
MY FIRST TRIUMPH WAS A TR-3A. I BOUGHT TWO BASKET CASES IN 1977
AND COMPLETED THE RESTORATION OF ONE IN 1980. I WAS JUST OUT OF COLLEGE
AT THE TIME AND MONEY WAS SCARCE, SO IT TOOK THREE YEARS TO COMPLETE.
THIS WAS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT RESTORING A VEHICLE AND IT CAME OUT PRETTY
NICE. WHITE EXTERIOR WITH A RED LEATHER INTERIOR. DID ALMOST ALL OF
THE WORK MYSELF INCLUDING BODY WORK AND PAINT. I DID SHOP OUT THE ENGINE
REBUILD AND SEATS. I STILL HAVE THE CAR AND IT IS BEGINNING TO SHOW SOME
SIGNS OF AGE, BUT MY KIDS LOVE IT AND WILL NOT LET ME PART WITH IT.
DECIDING ON A TR4-A FOR VINTAGE RACING WAS AN EASY CHOICE SINCE I HAVE A
PRETTY GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF THE MECHANICALS. GRASSROOTS MOTORSPORTS
ALSO DID AN ARTICLE ON THE TR-4 CLAIMING THEY WERE A GREAT BUY FOR THE
MONEY AND EASY TO KEEP COMPETITIVE. THE CAR I BOUGHT HAS BEEN A RACER
SINCE I THINK THE EIGHTIES. THE LOG BOOK GOES BACK TO 1990. IT IS
PRETTY CLEAN, BUT I AM PERFORMING SOME COSMETIC AND COMPETITION
MODIFICATIONS BEFORE I TAKE IT OUT THIS SPRING.
SO, I AM JUST GETTING STARTED AND CAN APPRECIATE ANY HELP AND ADVISE I
CAN GET.
I AM A MEMBER OF THE NORTHERN NEW JERSEY SCCA. THEY RUN A HISTORIC
SERIES SPONSORED BY VOLVOAND SPONSOR EVENTS AT LIME ROCK, NEW HAMPSHIRE,
POCONO AND WATKINS GLEN.
I AM REALLY EXCITED ABOUT MY RACING DEBUT THIS SPRING SINCE I HAVE
WAITED OVER FIFTEEN YEARS TO GET STARTED. I APPRECIATE IT IF YOU COULD
NOMINATE ME AND HOPE THE ORGANIZATIONS WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER.
AGAIN, THANK YOU AND I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU SOON.
