The oil in an overdrive box is doing a huge amount of work when the ovedrive
is engaged, experience suggests a J type will outlast a gearbox or two if
normal gearbox oil is used as recommended by Triumph, nowadays a part
synthetic GL5, 75W/90. I don't see the point of trying anything else.
