I am new on the list, so this discussion is very pertinent and timely for
me. As Justin mentioned, it is a question of walking the line. I
participate in e-mail lists because I am first and foremost an enthusiast.
If I can clear up a point, or perhaps add something to the discourse I will.
If someone asks about product availability, I'll try to answer the question
without pitching for a sale.
When specialised items are made available, such as Justin's gaskets, I
believe this is a benefit to the group, and not an abuse.
There is a question when a new product becomes available. As someone
involved in getting products to market, sometimes one wants to yell out that
something nifty this way comes. There has always been a worry to me that
this would be a misuse of the lists, so it was refreshing to read Rocky's
comment in support of that type of information. I tend to be very
conservative about posting, so if anyone does have a question, please ask.
