Right! From Robson & Langworth's history of the marque: "In 1902 a Belgian 
Minerva 2 1/4 hp engine with belt drive was bolted up to a modified 
pedal-cycle frame, reinforced to take the extra power, and the first Triumph 
motorcycle was underway."

Extra "POWER"? From a 2 1/4 hp engine? Wow. Or was it only 1 3/4 hp (from 
239cc), as a photo caption describes it? Either way, watch out. ;-)
