Cool.

Our FOT friend Gregg Solow saved my bacon at the last Monterey Historics
with some ARP studs that replace the long corner studs. The block stud
holes tend to crack at the outside edges of the block (as I remember it's
mostly the spark plug side that has the problem) and Greg had ARP make us
some studs that have a few extra threads. The cure requires drilling the
holes deeper and running a bottoming tap in to get the extra thread depth.
Fiddly, somewhat scary work--I'm glad Greg's mechanic did it instead of
handing me the tools.

Does this stud set include the longer studs, and therefore do they require
this work?

Greg had only the repair studs made as I recall, for the rest of the studs
he used stock one. It would be nice to get full sets. I can attest to the
pain of having a stud break off waaaay inside the block the day before the
race, a thousand miles from home.

Friends, ARP now has TR3-4 head studs. I just received my set, but
they did short me 2 studs. They are part number 206-4207, and the
jobber price on them is $113.90. I noticed in the latest APT
"catalog" that they had them for $248. I don't know if that is a
typo, but that is quite a difference in price! I have no relationship
to ARP, but thought that this would be of interest to the list.
