SpeedVision was purchased by the Fox network some time ago. It was recently
announced that the name would be changed from SpeedVision to the Speed
Channel. There's no "new" channel, just new management and a new name.
It is still unclear who (if anyone) will broadcast F1 races in the US next
year. This season, SpeedVision did not get the rights until the very last
moment. Literally.
What IS clear is that there will be a lot more NASCAR coverage on the
renamed Speed Channel. Some of that has already happened. The fate of
sportscar race coverage (British Touring Cars, Petit LeMans, etc.), and gems
like Legends of Motorsport (tonight: The History of Rover) is yet to be
seen.
