I recently wrote to the BHMIT for a ceritifcate (with the primary goal
of obtaining the original build specifications for my TR2 longdoor (TS 3281
L). I have had an unanticipated response and wonder if any of you might be
able to recommend a curse of action.
I received a return letter from BHMIT stating the the microfiche was
damaged and that they therefore could not provide a certificate. With the
letter, they provided a microfiche copy. The provided copy seemed to only be
of cars with the commission number of TS 36xx rather than the 32xx series. In
fact, when I scrutinized the "damaged" commission number on the microfiche,
it seem to be that of TS 3681, rather than TS 3281.
It is somewhat perplexing that they would not issue a certificate when
they have identified a specific date of manufacturer stated at the top of the
microfiche copy sent to me (Monday 23 August 1954). However, the 2 (which
looks to me like a 6 on my copy) and 8 are only partially readable.
I have subsequently contacted the BHMIT archives by email. They seem
rather firm in their belief that the TS 3281 was on the page in the midst of
TS 36xx commission numbers. I then asked if they would provide me with the
manufacturer's specification for the commission number on that page which
they believed was TS 3281 L. These were barely readable on the copy, but as
strong as the others (also not readable) on the printed copy. For some
reason, BHMIT has decline to read those from the original microfiche and
provide them to us.
I am wondering if anyone else has gone through a similar situation
with BHMIT? Is there any alternative to going through BHMIT ?
