Amici,
Thank you all for your erudite and considered responses.
invaluable and much appreciated.
I now know not to worry about my commission number being visible from outside
on my 63 Triumph Vitesse.
I will be getting my engine number stamped onto my engine block again,
(it was milled away during the engine rebuild in 1986), so it matches the
paperwork again.
I will make certain that I have my BMIHT Heritage Certificate and photocopies
of the relevant pages form the workshop/parts manuals.
I already have a laminated windsceen, and I will obtain sealed beam
Right-hand dipping headlamps to keep everyone happy.
And as I have to give up my Vehicle Registration Document to our Vehicle
Licensing authorities before I export it, I will keep a photocopy and get a
Certificate of Export from them.
Finally, my car gives off a little oil smoke, it isn't burning it, but rather
it is getting past the phosphor bronze valve guides, and the stainless steel
valves, due to larger clearance than standard, so I will try and fit teflon
valve stem oil seals on the inlet valves before it is shipped.
Does the tappet cover (rocker cover in british) have to have a sealed exit
for the oil vapour? as at the moment, it just has a rubber hose running to a
catch-bottle.
I am hoping that the valve stem oil seals might cut down on the vapour some.
Kind Regards
Leon
(ps. my name is LEON, not LION, it's been coming out wrong on the list due to
a problem with putting the speech mark above the E when I mail to the amici
list)
