Sorry to reply so late, I was away at a conference. I run a 2.5 inch
exhaust out the back of my TR3. I have it set up so that I can add a
Super Turbo muffler at the very end, as the exhaust exits the rear of
the car. When I did some dyno testing with my old carbs, the car
made more power and torque with the muffler. With no muffler, I am
just under the SCCA noise level (103dbA) at New Hampshire, but most
other tracks I am in the upper 90's. I added a slight turnout at the
end so that I can direct it away from sound control. Joe(B)
