Actually I'm cueing off the recent replica--Probably the guy who built that
replica in England took some liberties, but I'm looking at a picture of it
as I write, and it has double rows near the rear of the hood. Looks bitchin'

Are you sure of this?  I just looked in "The Works Triumphs"
(G.Robson), "Triumph Sports" (An Autocar Special) and
"TR for Triumph" (C.Harvey).  The pictures in "TR for Triumph"
are probably the best of this group of books.  In none of these
photos is there any evidence of louvers on the Jabbeke car.
