FOTers
I will not have time until next week to summarize the survey. I think
there are many good ideas that have been offered. However, I do not want my
lack of available time to stop momentum in the interim. Let me offer a
potential FOT strategy.
When I was single, I was told that it was considered bad form by women
friends for a women to go to bed with their date until at least the third
date. (This was probably invented by the same group that says a diamond
should be at least a month or two's salary.) There must have been some
specific exemptions to this rule, because I noticed when I picked a date up
in one vehicle verses another, it seemed to make a difference. I have often
thought that a good slogan for Ferrari would be "For those times when you do
not want to wait until the third date."
I think over the next two years, we can date various events to see how we
like them with regional events. Joe's efforts are a more formal date where we
should try to impress organizers with what we can delivered to the party.
More specifically:
1. We identify race events which are Triumph-friendly for regional
participation in 2001. We also explore with other British marques the
potential of the BAR. We further explore locations from our regional events
for home(s) for a national event.
2. We use the Mid-Ohio event in 2002 as a "national" by piggybacking a
Triumph only get together mid week before the race. We also continue to have
regional FOT gatherings. We "encourage" VTR to have its event at MidOhio. We
select a home site for the next national in 2004 with or without other
British marques and encourage VTR to be there as well.
3. In 2003, we only have regional events, save travel money for next
national in 2004. This also would give VTR the chance to continue staging
events at places other than the FOT race sites. Although, it would be nice to
see them support regional FOT events during the non-national years.
Hope my dating comments does not offend anyone.
Happy Holidays, Cary
