Greetings Amici,
All this talk about gears is timely as my GT6 racer has been eating gearboxes
like mad lately. One of the possible solutions is to use the TR box and the
CR gearset makes it somewhat viable.
Other solutions include the Spit Hewland conversion at about three thousand
Dollars if one can be found. A Quaffe Rocket box is viable at about the same
price or there's Toyota conversion from New Zealand. The Hewland conversion
is the only one VARA legal as our rules specify the original casing must be
used.
The TR has some charm though because of the price and presumed durability.
It is still technically illegal but it's at least period and the Lemans spits
ran them; and what's a GT6 but a Lemans Spitfire? (squint a little and you
won't notice those two extra cylinders).
So, has anybody actually confirmed Ken has the CR gearsets? Is a straight
cut set available? What are the drawbacks to using the TR box? Weight?
Cases breaking?
Anybody doing it already? Any thoughts at all?
