I just disassembled a TR4 engine in preparation for rebuilding it for a
street car.
I found a couple of peculiar things and am just curious about whether or
not anyone else has ever seen them.
First, the crank had been turned -- ready for this? -- .050. Wonder
where they got the bearings?
Second, valve guide seals had been installed -- but they were unlike
anything I have encountered. They were an umbrella seal contained in a
metal sleeve which was drilled and pinned to the guides.....
I'm curious about the era in which these mods would have been done.
