Greetings,
The '62 TR4 race car is looking pretty bare. It's amazing what a couple
hours with a sawsall and a grinder will do. The old roll bar is off.
Monday morning I take the car to a local fabricator to get the new cage
built and installed. We are doing the main hoop, two legs dropping back to
the wheel arches, crossbar between the two legs for the harness, and two
side intrusion bars on each side terminating at a cowl hoop.
The fabricator is concerned about where to pick up the frame for the cowl
hoop. The body is bolted to an outrigger at the base of the A-post. The
frame runs inboard several inches.
Is it kosher to use the outrigger as the pick up point? Any modifications
needed to the outrigger to beef things up? Or do we weld some plates to the
frame extending things outboard and go from there? If anyone has some
digital pictures they are willing to send, that would be quite helpful as well.
As always, thanks a bunch.
My ISP has decided that Mark's server name has changed, so please be sure
to reply to me personally and to fot@autox.team.net
Thanks Mark for the fast answer to my problem!
