Hi Gang
I've just got back from South of London on one of my regular 'Triumph'
trips, and what a trip it was. I decided to pop down to see Les Leston the
Triumph Twin cam driver. I hadn't seen Les for about 20 years.
Anyway, when I arrived at about 11.30am, we immediately started talking old
times and were soon sitting with a beer in our hands - and our feet in a
pool of racing oil. I got my tape out for what was supposed to be a full
interview with Les, but we kept side tracking each other with the old
question 'do you remember when' etc., and we had to keep switching the tape
off. About 1.00pm Les said, "We'd better get down the pup." - At about six
pm we decided we needed some food, but this was the one day the pub
restaurant was shut. So we went to another country pub Les knew, had a
meal, and went to the bar. We got back to Les' home at about ten completely
void of any understanding of the English language and I stayed the night.
As I left this morning Les said, "You'll have to come back again next week,
and probably the week after!!! I drove home nursing some marvelous re-born
memories and a particularly interesting headache.
