Friends,

A slight diversion if I may? I have returned to the warmth
of my little house having been distracted from the more
practical and dare I say it, engineered aspects of matters
Triumph.
It all started with a lady of somewhat vintage years
trudging up the yard in the pouring rain from the road,
bearing two large and obviously heavy plastic bags. I have
to say I took little notice of her until a voice from the
other side of the raised bonnet enquired, "do you believe in
God?"
I have to say that at that moment the more abstract aspects
and wondrous works of the Almighty had definitely taken
second place to the task of setting valve clearances and I
don't remember my answer - but I doubt it was convincing.
Without waiting for a reply, this sodden example of
dedicated humanity shoved a testament in my direction in a
rather nice binding, together with a small candle in a
plastic cup. The candle and cup were in a sealed plastic bag
inside which was a printed piece of paper entitled The
Millenium Resolution.
She bade me farewell and quickly disappeared from whence she
had come.
After the better part of twenty minutes of diligent
searching, I eventually found my spectacles from their
hiding place behind the battery and studied the Resolution
with a degree of assiduity. It says:

LET THERE BE RESPECT FOR THE EARTH
PEACE FOR THE PEOPLE,
LOVE IN OUR LIVES,
DELIGHT IN THE GOOD.
FORGIVENESS FOR PAST WRONGS
AND FROM NOW ON
A NEW START

I'll drink to all of that AND in the Spirit in which it is
offered. Furthermore, I feel sure I am not alone?

However, in view of the fact that I've just refitted the
fuel lift pump, pressure relief valve and a new CAV filter
and none of it leaks, the last two lines have a particular
significance which I greatly doubt were in this lady's focus
as she approached me with her gifts!

A Happy New Year to you all

Jonmac
