Amici:
Today I managed to stop off at Roebing Road to watch the beginning of the
new VDCA racing group kickoff event. Today was practice, and there was not
a huge number of cars yet, but I did get to see and hear some very nice
TRs. There were 4 - 5 Spits and only 1 big TR (George Wrights yellow TR4).
The weather was perfect, in the low 70s with only occasional high clouds.
Due to the lack of crowding, the practive sessions were extended so each
group got 2 sessions of over 30 minutes each. Since I'm more interested in
4s than Spits, I paid more attention to Georges sessions than the others,
and he's got a great car.
The new group is attempting to keep the cars development down and it looks
as if some of the cars that are legal in SVRA and HSR won't be legal in
this group. No roller rockers, no coilovers, etc... Anyhow, it appeared
that everyone was having a good time and I didn't see any TRs break.
Unfortunately, I had to come home tonight and won't get to see the actual
racing this weekend, but at least I got to see, and report on, some actual
Triumph racing activity.
See ya,
Don Marshall
