Last issue of VL shows white SAAB Sonnet coming down the hill to turn five at
Road America.
Not the focus of the cover, and I am not current owner, but fun to see the
car that Alexander Racing launched into vintage racing in 1991. Also had much
pleasure in selling the car to Mark School, who became a great friend. Mark
has made the car run very well indeed and is a great competitor in VSCDA.
One more thing...I have a question: Las Vegas relative has Karmann Ghia that
might be a candidate for Vintage Racing on low budget scale. Does anyone know
of anyone who currently campaigning such a vehicle.
It would likely be modestly prepared as our low budget SAAB was. Would run
as a convertible/roadster. There are some Midwest Council Beetles that rival
our TR4 lap times at Blackhawk Farms...but they are extremely well
developed...but I know they can be to run quickly.
If there is no one out there with a Karmann Ghia, maybe it is time it
happened. Could be entertaining as poor man's Porsche. Young relative has
detail shop in Henderson and is not entirely without skills. Could use some
mentoring from GT6Steve or someone for VARA requirements...if his mother and
father, my cousins, dont shoot me. Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
joe
