I will respond on email and copy the FOT, since I have sent out a number
of copies, and I'm sure others will have the same questions.
As far as the rocker pedestals, I had 2 sets with my race car which Don
Marshall (FOT member) now has. Perhaps Don would be willing to pull the
set off his spare engine to let you make up a set of drawings. I'm sure
many FOT's would be interested. Once again, I need to give credit to Hardy
Prentice for this design. He had his machinist make a set for me using his
as a pattern. I had a local machinist here copy them again to make me a
second set, and also had a set made up for the engine I built for Chip
Bond. It's a good design, and easy to make.

I would like to thank you for sending me the drawing. Gee with the
Group 44 logo I feel I now have a piece of racing lore. As this is a copy
of a copy some of the dimensions were washed away. Maybe you could help
figure them out?
Starting at the left set of dimensions and working to the right..
1st. What is the 3.440 dem. referencing?
2nd. The 2.524(9?) 5 has a dem in (.5280) and some unreadable letters?
3rd. top/middle dems. is it 1 27or37/64?
4th. bottom middle dems. the first dem (next to 3/4) is totally
unreadable.
5th. the dem & letters in( ) above 1.825 dem are unreadable
6th. the hole dem. 50 or 60 deg apart?... 21/64?
7th. bolt circle 4?/?
I hope these are clearer on your set. I'm redrawing them on Auto
Cad LT and will send you a full copy when it's complete. If you have Auto
Cad I'll send a disk.
By the way, I'm also working on a set of drawings for the rocker
shaft pedestals. I have been warned that this is a weak link and that they
break.

Actually, the pedestals don't break, but the rocker pedestal studs do when
you use a very radical cam which puts the pedestal into a rocking motion,
and eventually breaks the stud. With Hardy's design, the front and rear
rockers are supported on both sides (like the stock TR-6 design). In
addition to the improved design, you also need to use grade 8 studs and
nuts with hardened washers, and torque them to 65 lbs.
I haven't been able to find anyone that makes them. and the set I was
able to find were not at all usable. Could you tell me , are the pedestals
on a TR-4 the same as that of a TR-6? Others might be interested.
