Bill, I guess, theoretically, you could 'custon fit' the thickness of the
gasket to the heighth of the liner to get each liner protruding the correct
amount. This would require having various thicknesses of gaskets on hand.
I think it would be easier to find a set of liners that match.

Maybe that will work, but assuming the problem is liners that do not match,
don't you HAVE to use stacks of gaskets. We had no choice but to use
'stacks' of figure eight gaskets.
