In the light of the recent dialog about legitimate modifications, I'm almost
loathe to tell you what I did to the front end. But Peyote has almost the
same modifications. On my TR3, I modified the upper arm, replacing the
bushings with heim joints and making both caster and camber adjustable. Of
course this kind of adjustment changes the arm length, so you can't get
carried away with changes. I also moved the pivot point of the upper arm
1.3" inboard. That brought the roll center up into the range of 6 to 8
inches from the ground. On Peyote the upper arm is simply shorter, which
does the same thing without adjustability, but the pivot point is stock.
this normally would create big bump steering problems, but Peyote has rack
and pinion steering with the assembly carried much higher than a stock
Triumph box. I haven't measured things out yet, but I suspect its well
engineered, since the handling is exemplary--a lot like a Formula Ford.

I'm not sure why stiffer rear springs make Triumphs understeer more.
