For those of you following the trials and tribulations of the Duke of
Oil...He's actually in the paint booth as I write this !
I hope the Duke will have a better time on the track than he has in the
painting process. For those of you keeping track, we remember that I pulled
it out of one shop after six months and into another that would do the job in
a more timely manner. Well, the "black cloud" of trouble has followed the
Duke to the new shop. We had some trouble getting the paint code as Sikkens
no longer lists it, but one overachiever has all the old codes at his home
and we got the correct code. After painting the jambs, the body shop lost the
code and called the fellow at Sikkens again, but he had just gone on vacation
for 2 weeks! To get the bodyshop of off their back, they gave them a code
which they thought was correct. Do we have to guess that it wasn't? After
repeated questioning on my part as to why it wasn't painted yet, the bodyshop
'fessed up to the fact that they had lost the code. For once I did something
right...I had a copy of the code and even more amazing, I knew where I put
it! Once again back on track, the bodyshop couldn't mix the paint as they had
used the last of an odd toner on the previous wrong color. So, after another
delay for more toner, the Duke is in the paint booth as of 3pm today. I'd be
very excited about this, but there's always time for that ole "black cloud"
to do it's thang...
It's hard to get a Pessimist down...
