This is probably "Triumph sacrilige", but I've had success by cutting the
bushing at one point (radially) with a utility knife, then soaking in hot
water and then pushing them in with a rubber mallet and a "pick". The cut
makes it easier to work them into place.
Yes, they are a pain.
If the motor is in the car - it's a major pain.
It's not that much easier when the motor is out, but you do feel better
because you get a bigger "swing" with the hammer.
As a point of reference, my bushings are still holding up after 8 years -
that's a bit longer than the originals!
