Bill, I ran with no fan or damper for years, but 7200 rpm was the absolute max, and a number of cranks flunked mag. I also lost one or two on the track. Since I went to a damper, the crank life has been almost unreal. This is with a used, factory crank that has been nitrided. BTW: I run a Jones real tack that I check on the dyno; none of the "exactly 6892 RPM; I shift when the pointer gets to the R" stuff. Hardy |
