You beat me to the punch Mordy...but whole heartedly endorse your nomination
of our fellow E Ticket member...
RE: Paul Smock ...fellow racer. When Paul and I went to Road Atlanta in the
late 80's and got to motor our street Triumphs about the grandaddy called Road
Atlanta...we made a pact to build a true Vintage Racer ala Kas Kastner's book
of competition prep. What luck we had as we partnered that first car (#190)
and raced it in dual classes for 5 years each race before building the second
car I now campaign.(#195). Getting to meet people like Mordy Dunst (Who's
father -in -law was Michael Rothchild) who lived four doors from Paul's front
door, Don Queen who was one of the single TR campaigners at the So Cal tracks
in the 80's and a source of many a TR part and great track party, and the
jointly growing of what has become the largest TR Vintage team in So
California...E Ticket Triumphs. As I was founding President of SCTOA (So Cal
Triumph Owners Association) for almost 6 years, Paul and I have shared almost
every facet of Triumph ownership and tinkering for over 15 years together and
have to say without him I would have had no one to keep me from hanging up the
driving gloves at many a past time of family or financial strife. We all need
that nudge at times.
No finer competitor, yet a gentleman driver that epitomizes the Vintage
spirit, I can without bias say he's a fine addition to be considered for FOT
membership...and it's about time we drag him kicking and screaming into the
computer age by filling his mailbox with email missives like these as soon as
possible. I have no doubt he's figured out how to have his PC leave Castrol
trails on the desktop tho...
No dues, no rules, welcome to the best kind of club Paul.
