Cleaning Solutions

I am about to purchase, I think, about 3 gallons of carb cleaning solution
for $40.

I have a couple of sets of carbs and other aluminum pieces to clean and
would like to have some of this stuff for the longer term, anyway.

What's best and any clever recommendations on containers and use?
Caveats...alternatives?
