I am very surprised not to see any comments on the just completed TRF =
TR6 parts clearance sale. So to fill the void, here are MY comments. =
Most of us have felt the sting of "out of stock" on basic parts from =
TRF. Charles has consistently told us that he has remanufactured parts =
and stockpiled items for our cars, and asked us for our support. Many on =
the list have complained about his "marketing approach". It had become =
painfully obvious to us loyal (as much as is possible) TRF customers, =
that Charles has loaded himself up with his pet project inventory (and =
who among us would tell him not to make the green hoses that Moss and VB =
don't carry) at the expense of good business practices. This sale is the =
proof. The flyer shares in stock quantities with us. How many =
out-of-stocks could have been prevented if TRF had only 100 accelerator =
shaft nylon bushings in stock instead of 6686. If we take 50% off list =
for the wholesale cost on most items, there is $15,608.82 in those extra =
nylon bushings alone. He has 197 gearbox covers worth $7870.15 in stock =
and 378 sets of rubber floor mats @ $5271.10. The sale flyer has so =
many examples of these buying practices that one has to wonder if they =
thought about the carrying costs before they bought. Sure some of this =
inventory has to be bought in greater quantities, and I have no idea how =
many gearbox covers TRF sells in a year, but no business can stand to =
carry inventory for years and years. I applaud TRF (and John and =
Charles) for taking this bold step. Balance those inventories boys, =
bring the rest up to proper levels and sell the blank out of it. Then, =
after you win back your lost customers complete the pet projects with =
the profits that TRF is losing now because me and many others that want =
to buy from TRF are forced to shop elsewhere.
