The number one factor in towing anything is brakes. If the trailer
doesn't have electric brakes, you don't want to haul with something
light. If you're going to pull the engine anyway, then a good heavy duty
clutch is in order no matter what--cheap insurance. You also want to
keep the engine cool. I had a custom radiator built for my TR3 that
actually delivers too much cooling--I can't keep the temperature above
140F, even during races. My water temp is 60 degrees cooler than the
oil temp--and I have an oil cooler! Bad news for a race car, but it
would be good for towing--I'd consider either radiator replacement or
augmentation with an electric fan--you're probably not going to be going
fast enough to maximize airflow thorough the radiator.

All in all, sounds like fun. I have a 49 chevy truck that I'm going to
make into my tow vehicle, and get rid of my Tahoe. the Tahoe is a
comfortable moose, but I'm offended by the gas mileage--makes me feel
like I'm squandering resources. I plan to leave the original 216cid
straight six in place, and just do a nice rebuild on everything.
