For those of you sitting around with a cool beverage in one hand, and a travel
atlas in the other, here's some auto events in and around Utah you may be
interested in attending, if you happen to find yourself in the neighborhood
on your way to or from somewhere fun.
Of course, my sympathies to you AOL subscribers who may not see this message
until about Thanksgiving.
April 12 - British Motor Club Tinker Day at The Fat Chance Garage. It may not
actually snow this year, but I'm not taking bets.
May 17/18 - SCCA Pro Solo in Wendover, Utah (I'm likely going to be in Calif.)
June 7/8 - Intermountain Vintage Racing's first hillclimb, Ogden, Utah
July 9-12 - VTR convention, Fort Worth. You know, if I finish the TR3 by
then, I wonder if anyone would like to fly to Salt Lake and drive
it to Texas? Sound a bit TOO familiar, Chris? Okay, maybe Pugs'
Herald then.
August 2 - BMC Alpine Loop drive. Traditionally our biggest turnout, 30 - 40
cars tooling through the mountains.
August 23 - Mark and Karen have BIG party to celebrate 10 years of wedded life.
Luckily Pugs and Diane are willing to let us use their place. They
have a dartboard and a hot tub. Be there, it will be smokin! And
speaking of smoking, vegetarians beware, Pugs and I will be cooking
chicken, beef brisket, pork ribs, rib roast, maybe a turkey. Like I
said, BIG party. And homebrews to gulp for the chumps who take a
*big* bite of the fresh roasted habs and jalapenos.
Labor Day weekend - Rocky Mountain Vintage street race, Steamboat Springs. I
may actually make the, oh, maybe 6 hour drive to attend this year!
(This is why our anniversary party is a week before the true date.)
September 20/21 - Second IVR hillclimb, Park City, unless they charge us too
much, in which case back at Snow Basin (Ogden)
And of course, there are various SCCA Solo events scattered around on the
schedule, including a two day Solo Trials event out at Wendover in June, I
think. Could be fun. And IVR days on the new roundy-round oval. Maybe
I *will* get a firesuit...
