FOT and Fellow Vintage Racers:
There has been an extensive thread on TR3/4 thermostats on the Triumph
List. It makes me wonder....
I have:
Stage II engine(mild tune)
large oil cooler mounted in air stream
stock radiator in good shape
excellent ductwork to radiator
I "gutted" a stock thermostat to provide restricted flow and after the
2nd year I plugged the by-pass. We have run this engine for four years
without any apparent overheating problems. (About 5000 racing miles)
Given the "list" conversations on sharp edges, cavitation, and hot spots
I wonder if we should be doing something different. What are the other
Triumph folks doing?
Help.....
Thanks,
TR4 #197
