I cleaned out an old tank with a 1/4" thick layer of "varnish" at the =
bottom using a gallon of lacquer thinner. Let it sit in there and soak =
for a few days and it broke up most of the crud, I probably threw in =
some marbles to shake around and finish the job, but don't recall. I =
didn't want to use anything too abrasive since there was no visible rust =
yet.=20

I cleaned out the clogged fuel exit tube with a piece of thick weed =
whacker line (the kind with ridges) - chucked it in my cordless drill =
and went down the tube with it until it was clear all the way to the =
tank.
