> Does the inside of a 4 speed ever get cleaned when it is out of the car? To continue this discussion, I agree with others that simple flushing with a solvent is likely to leave vital thrust surfaces unlubricated. To revisit an old topic, the most important thing to check on the four speed is the countershaft rod and roller bearings. This is the shaft that supports the counter gear. The shaft tends to wear at the bearing points, allowing it to tilt ever so slightly and putting the counter gear at risk of breaking teeth. Been there, done that. -- John John F Sandhoff sandhoff@csus.edu Sacramento, CA ________________________________________ datsun-roadsters@autox.team.net Archive: http://www.team.net/archive Unsubscribe: http://autox.team.net/mailman/options/datsun-roadsters/mharc@autox.team.net |
