1) what happens at 4500 rpm when cold? Missing, fuel starved, engine stalls?
runs fine up to 4500 or 5000, then just won't go any farther when you
depress the pedal.
2) once running well, does it idle well? Does it accelerate with power?
idles just fine, but when its hot the idle drops and it almost stalls.
accelerates, but I'm thinking it lacks power.
3) when it won't start, it cranks but but never fires, fires intermittently,
doesn't crank at all?
cranks but never fires. like no gas or vapor lock. have not tried starter
fluid spray.
>From what you wrote, it might be a fuel mixture problem. I am guessing
perhaps the jet is worn, the needle is worn or the jet isn't well centered
in the carb. When she warms up, things get a little better aligned. Just a
swag on my part.
