hi dave, i usually just tighten the nut really tight(mabe use some
loctite),
and adjust the cable where the pedal hits the floor(or stop), before the
carb. butterfly is all the way open, and starts binding the cable. that way
it
wont bend the pedal arm. once you adjust the cable properly, it wont be
putting force against the pedal linkage. best of luck, bob smith, ohio
